Exciting, inspiring and innovative. This is how the Rheinland Pitch #113 can be described, which took place on Monday, 27.02 at STARTPLATZ Düsseldorf. Three innovative Startups, DiConneX, DoQtor and Bion, who want to change and improve the world, and qualified for the Rheinland Pitch with their innovative and inspiring ideas already in the pre-pitch…. They fought and made it to the stage in front of numerous spectators. With just seven minutes, they were able to convince investors and others, not only of their idea, but also of their own passion to take their startup to the top.
After the three exciting pitches, viewers voted. In a neck-and-neck race, Christoph Wend-Erdel’s startup DiConnex prevailed and took the win. Following closely behind was the startup DoQtor by Benjamin Schwarz (2nd place) and the startup Bion Analytics by Phuoc Nguyen (3rd place). Thus, DiConneX was the winner of the evening and of the Rheinland Pitch #113. The whole Rheinland Pitch Team congratulates the three startups and wishes them all the best for the future.
The Rheinland Pitch Team would also like to thank all participants who applied for the Rheinland Pitch #113. There were many innovative startups from all stages who want to change the world with their ideas. The selection was often very difficult for us. Even if you weren’t there this time, you are welcome to apply again for the next Rheinland Pitch #114 on Monday, 24.04 at STARTPLATZ Cologne.

Founded in 2013, it has grown to become the largest startup pitch event in Germany.
Its mission is twofold: On the one hand, it’s an educational platform for early stage startups to improve and professionalise their investor pitch. On the other hand, it’s a networking platform, connecting a diverse audience with exciting early stage startups on a regular basis.
It offers new and exciting startups pitch training and investment-readiness testing and a stage to practice and pitch an audience of investors, media, and the general public on a monthly basis – for free.
3 to 5 startups presents their investor pitch at the event, and the audience and expert jury will put the founders’ feet to the fire with their questions after the pitch.
The best pitching startup is selected by voting by the audience.
All startups at all stages are welcome to apply – from idea stage to series X. The application for the next Rheinland Pitch is only one click away.
A week in advance before the official event, selected applicants are invited to a pitch training and investment-readiness test session where a jury assesses their readiness to put on stage. A few select startups from the pitch training session are then invited to pitch on stage at the official event one week later.
The selection criteria the jury have to consider at the pitch training session are, among others:
.
24. April – STARTPLATZ Köln
Bewerbungsende: 11. April 23.59 Uhr
Vorpitch: 17. April von 16.00 bis 20 Uhr
.
Your pitch deck doesn’t have to be perfect – applicants will be invited to a pre-session where all invited startups get pitch training and a practice run with feedback. The selected startups will then have a whole week to improve for the pitch on stage.
Usually, the pitch event is also streamed online on YouTube.

Stage 1: Application
Every founder with a startup at any stage from anywhere can apply. For the regular Rheinland Pitch, you apply by using the application form and providing the requested materials therein.
Stage 2: Pre-Event Training Session
Selected applicants will be invited to a private pre-event training and investment-readiness session one week out before the event. At the moment, the pre-event training sessions are held online via Zoom.
The Pre-Event Sessions have the following agenda:
Each startup then have 5 minutes to walk the jury through their pitch and the deck and 5-10 minutes of feedback is provided to each startups afterwards. At this pre-event session, timing is not a judging criteria. Traction (amount of product-market-fit proof) and performance quality (story and pitch deck) usually are, though.
A day or two later the startups selected for the public event are notified.
Stage 3: The Rheinland Pitch public event
The public Rheinland Pitch event usually puts 3 (min) to 5 (max) startups on stage to pitch for 7 minutes and an additional 7 minutes for answering questions and receiving feedback from the audience.
At the end of the public Rheinland Pitch event, the audience votes for the best pitching startup.
How? The Rheinland Pitch is open to everybody interested. Even more than a pitch competition, the event has established itself as a regular meetup for the startup ecosystem of Rhineland, Germany. Every month, you can find successful entrepreneurs, investors, accelerators, incubators, industry decision makers in the audience – as well as the general public, aka potential new customers or users.
When? The next Rheinland Pitch event is scheduled for February 27 2023 at STARTPLATZ Düsseldorf.
