Rheinland-Pitch #112 – Web3 Edition

The remote pitch of the Rheinland-Pitch #112 Web 3 Edition, one week before, was a great success. Eight international startups were allowed to hold their pitch in front of a selected Web 3 jury and a selection of them qualified for the live event. Many thanks to all jury members who enriched the Remote Pitch with their expertise.

The continuation of the Rheinland-Pitch Web 3 Edition was celebrated on January 30th. As part of the Rhineland Pitch #112, we were pleased to welcome the four qualified startups from the Remote Pitch, at STARTPLATZ Cologne. With these exciting and innovative startup concepts, we started the year in an inspiring way and were able to listen to interesting conversations while enjoying delicious food and drinks. Congratulations to the winners of TransferChain directly followed by the startup AIDONIC AG. Third place is taken by Rudy Capital and fourth place went to IotaOrigin.

We had a wonderful evening and thank the participating startups, the audience, the speaker and the moderator and pitch coach Vidar Andersen for a successful evening!

You can find more impressions on our social media channels.

About the Rheinland Pitch

Founded in 2013, it has grown to become the largest startup pitch event in Germany.

Its mission is twofold: On the one hand, it’s an educational platform for early stage startups to improve and professionalise their investor pitch. On the other hand, it’s a networking platform, connecting a diverse audience with exciting early stage startups on a regular basis.

It offers new and exciting startups pitch training and investment-readiness testing and a stage to practice and pitch an audience of investors, media, and the general public on a monthly basis – for free.

3 to 5 startups presents their investor pitch at the event, and the audience and expert jury will put the founders’ feet to the fire with their questions after the pitch.

The best pitching startup is selected by voting by the audience.

Who can apply?

All startups at all stages are welcome to apply – from idea stage to series X. The application for the next Rheinland Pitch is only one click away.

A week in advance before the official event, selected applicants are invited to a pitch training and investment-readiness test session where a jury assesses their readiness to put on stage. A few select startups from the pitch training session are then invited to pitch on stage at the official event one week later.

The selection criteria the jury have to consider at the pitch training session are, among others:

Your pitch deck doesn’t have to be perfect – applicants will be invited to a pre-session where all invited startups get pitch training and a practice run with feedback. The selected startups will then have a whole week to improve for the pitch on stage.

Usually, the pitch event is also streamed online on YouTube.

More information about applications

Why should I apply with my startup?

At the Rheinland Pitch, you get to present your startup to an interesting audience of investors, media, industry, and the general public. Regardless if you’re looking for a lead investor, potential users and customers, your next employee, or spreading awareness – the platform offers something for everyone.

Additionally, you’ll receive professional investor pitch training and feedback from Vidar Andersen – a recognised authority on the subject – for free!

The application process

Stage 1: Application
Every founder with a startup at any stage from anywhere can apply. For the regular Rheinland Pitch, you apply by using the application form and providing the requested materials therein.

Stage 2: Pre-Event Training Session
Selected applicants will be invited to a private pre-event training and investment-readiness session one week out before the event. At the moment, the pre-event training sessions are held online via Zoom.

The Pre-Event Sessions have the following agenda:

Each startup then have 5 minutes to walk the jury through their pitch and the deck and 5-10 minutes of feedback is provided to each startups afterwards. At this pre-event session, timing is not a judging criteria. Traction (amount of product-market-fit proof) and performance quality (story and pitch deck) usually are, though.

A day or two later the startups selected for the public event are notified.

Stage 3: The Rheinland Pitch public event

The public Rheinland Pitch event usually puts 3 (min) to 5 (max) startups on stage to pitch for 7 minutes and an additional 7 minutes for answering questions and receiving feedback from the audience.

At the end of the public Rheinland Pitch event, the audience votes for the best pitching startup.

I want to watch the pitches! How and when?

How? The Rheinland Pitch is open to everybody interested. Even more than a pitch competition, the event has established itself as a regular meetup for the startup ecosystem of Rhineland, Germany. Every month, you can find successful entrepreneurs, investors, accelerators, incubators, industry decision makers in the audience – as well as the general public, aka potential new customers or users.

When? The next Rheinland Pitch event is scheduled for February 27 2023 at STARTPLATZ Düsseldorf.
